Dorothy
Shorne is a professional celebrant
based in Adelaide, South Australia. She will work
with you to craft the ceremony that you want, whether it is
an occasion to share with many people, or a simple event with
a small number of participants.
Dorothy
is able to perform a range of civil ceremonies, such as
marriages, handfastings, namings, commitment ceremonies, adolescent
ceremonies, and all other rites of passage. She can
also provide ceremonies for other times of transition or celebration,
such as a house-warming, leaving a job or retirement, launching
a new business, etc. Ceremonies may be conducted
privately, for the Corporate, or for the Civic Sectors.
All ceremonies are created following consultation with the client, and appropriate ceremonies can be devised for varying situations.

Why might you decide to engage me as your celebrant?
If you are looking for someone with warmth and empathy, who can interpret your needs, craft a ceremony that reflects your thoughts and intentions, and who has the ability to deliver clearly and professionally on the day, you may like to read further.
My strengths lie in interpreting what my clients want, and ensuring that the ceremony is conducted smoothly with warmth and sincerity, but with an unobtrusive strength and control that calms the greatest of jitters. My ceremonies are clearly heard, and I ensure that everyone (including guests) feels a part of the special day. Mine are 'people' strengths. Look to the testimonials page to read what previous clients have said. No matter how formal the ceremony may be, my style of delivery is still one that is relaxed and composed.
Recent changes to the Marriage Act have seen a significant increase in celebrant appointments and the competition is keen to obtain the work that justifies registration. There are now a range of celebrant skills on offer with a range of fee structures.. Not wanting to compromise on quality, and having the experience to know what time and skills are required in providing the service that my clients want, I have chosen to maintian my fee structure and to continue to provide the best possible service.
This means that I can ensure that I meet all statutory requirements, can have current professional indemnity insurance, and can continually engage in professional development activities. Having fewer clients means that I can focus on the needs of individual clients, and am not rushing from one ceremony to the next. I have greater commitment to each ceremony and even better for me, I enjoy it more as well. I am happy to meet with clients on a no-obligation basis to discuss requirents and the skills I have to offer. Should I not be the right celebrant for you, or if I am already booked for your chosen day, I am happy to refer you to celebrants in whose work I trust.
